'Valentine's Event Details, Free Tasting Every Sunday, Iza back from the Gulf.'

Good Afternoon       1/13/17

How was your week?  I found myself a little anxious on Tuesday, Jon, Anna, and Iza were flying home from a 5 day vacation to Fort Myers Florida.  I am not afraid to fly, I just fear they may crash.  Iza got back to school and her first full day home she came over to visit.  Lately Iza and I have been playing a lot of double solitary, see if I can beat a 9 yr. old granddaughter.  We both play to win, so when she beats me she know she really won. (And she does beat me.)  At this visit Iza and grandma played together against me, four hands to two.  We played hard and fast and they won. (But I didn't cry.  I smiled and accused them of not playing fair.  It make her victory feel even better.)  Below Anna and Iza on the beach.

Yesterday Jon was racking some wine, racking is pumping the wine out of a tank and leaving the solid sediment behind.  Then clean the solids out of the tank and then pump the wine back.  Three rackings are typical for one production cycle of a wine.  While waiting we did some decorating and working on the planning for some bigger decorating projects for the winery. I was sure to tell Jon to don't fall, especially on top of me.  When it is your winery, you get to do every job.

'Free Tasting Every Sunday, Bottling Nordsuss, Jenga with the Gang. (Our new Sobriety Test.)'

Good Evening        1/05/17

Well did you all get through New Year's?   We did too.  Mary and I made it to bed by 2 am, Jon and Anna I think didn't get to sleep until 3:30.  Needless to say I was up first in the morning and active before them.  On New Year's day we had our winery staff party at our house. We started slow, by the end got more active ending with playing the giant Jenga game.  It does become an addicting game.  Iza sure thought herself big stuff when she got her block out without tipping it over.  Our new sobriety test at the winery.  Try it, you'll like it.

Winter Hours

It is time for our winter schedule with free wine tasting every Sunday!  You just can't lose, a really good deal, free.

January through March we are open:
Saturday 11 to 7 pm
Sunday 11 to 6 pm

The Bottling continues...
Today we bottle the wine "Nordsuss".  It is sweet, light, and fruity, the quintessential "American grape juice" kind of taste that will probably remind you of grape juice from your childhood.

If you'd like to be a bottling volunteer send your name, phone number, days of the week available to donmillner@gmail.com with the subject line, "I Love a Good Party".
The bottling crews generally starts at 8 or 8:30 am and work for 4 hours. The only job in the world where you can drink on the job.

Schnickelfritz is Back!

Good Afternoon:            12/08/16

I have some good news, the wine "Schnickelfritz" is back on our shelves.

Schnickelfritz
Meaning rascal or trouble maker, as a non-traditional white wine it lives up to its name. Made with Brianna, this is a semi-sweet foxy white wine with a slight tart finish, light bodied no oak. Enjoy chilled and around your favorite trouble makers!

When you were little, you too might have been a Schnickelfritz.  Enjoy!!

     Last week the trivia question,

"What famous alien movie character do I now see formed from the snowman?"

And the answer is "ET".  This question brought in a near record of answers and all were correct.  I even got answers with "Phone Home"!  The question also came up, "Why doesn't the snowman ET have arms?  Answer:  That glowing finger melted them off.

And the winner of free bottle of wine is  Bill Murphy.  Congratulations.

Iza in the Snow, Black Friday best deals, & Christmas Thank You Dec. 10th.

Good Morning:             11/19/16

Yes we all know that winter seems to have appeared.  As many of you in preparation, I spent most this week like a squirrel gathering the last acorns before the storm. We completed the landscape type work for the new building including digging in the culvert and drain tile, plastic and sewer stone in all the drain areas and placing paver stones to edge it out. Plus brought in 4 loads of recycled concrete for the newly built service road area.  It was long day, but you have to make hay while the sun shines, it was really good weather to do these jobs.  Thank God my body held out.

This week Jon and Anna were gone to Colorado celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary.  Iza was with us the whole week.  We played a lot of cards, crazy 8's.  Last night waiting for Jon and Anna to arrive home, we played 16 games and came to an 8 to 8 tie on game wins.  Also, last night with the new snow, Iza was outside playing in the snow for 2 1/2 hours.  She like to make snow caves and tunnels as all kids.  Below are some photos, shot just with my phone, did OK for shooting in the dark.

Thank you for your time.

My Brother the Tree, the Rafters are up, Iza 30% off ends soon, Deer Hunting Widows, St. Martin book now.

Dick and Don Then

     Good Morning:

Dick and Don now

This week I was working in the courtyard and noticed how beautiful the leaves were on the Mein Onkel tree.  The wine Mein Onkel is named after my brother, Uncle Dick, after his death 6 yrs. ago we planted a memorial tree for him.  The tree has been slow to grow, but now it is beginning to have some heft.  When it was young Jon accidentally backed over it with the van and it popped back up.  That fall it also got badly deer rubbed and still survived.  Seeing the tree now, I thought it a good selfie moment with my brother now.

The Construction Advances

We've made good progress on our building addition this week.  When done it will be 3,000 square ft. of pallet wine storage.  We should be able to fit 30 to 40 thousand gallon of wine and cider in bottles into this space.  Or I told Jon it could also make a very nice basketball court. (Forget the basketball, I was always too short to play.)  Below I have some photos of the construction to date.

Charlie Roth live this Sat. and Sunday 2 - 5 pm.

Americana, Folk, Blues, Country, Celtic, Charlie Roth is a unique blend of all these genres.

Very soon this sale will be over!  Little Iza at 30% discount from the first bottle.

This is Sue from Carriage House Liquors of Faribault.  They're a good customer of ours and she has a problem, "Also I'm out of MN crisp 22 oz bottles .  Let me know when we are getting more cider."   This is a good problem, Thank you Sue.

Remember Nov. 5th, you don't want to miss this.

Oct. Little Iza @ 30% Discount, Nov. 5 Free Tasting, Nov. 12th St. Martin's Day Case-Club

     Good morning:

Enough rain last night again.  Next Monday we are scheduled to break ground for our production area addition.  We've been tied in paperwork since last May, last week I received our building permit in hand.  The slow down was the process to move the service road in conjunction with adding 3,000 feet onto the production building.  We bought wetland credits needed and this was the big slow down.  No rain now would be good for digging in the dirt.

Jon rechecked his inventory and we do have a lot of Little Iza.  Hence Little Iza will be on sale all through the month of Oct. at 30% discount.  A good deal for you and a nice way to balance our inventory, a win win.

A few photos below showing  how Iza is growing up.

Rockin Stompin Grape Stomp Tomorrow and Sunday, Oct 1 & 2

Tomorrow is our first day of the Grape Stomp.  The weather will be excellent both Saturday and Sunday.  The stomp grapes are arriving today.  Last Sunday we did finish our harvest, unusually wet for a harvest due to all the rain.

I don't have a lot of news today. About half of our wine tanks are now full again and more grapes, apple juice, and grape juice arriving.

Below is our official flyer for this weekend.

     Thank you for your time.
